Fly Swatter With Fly Decal

Here is a new twist on the old Fly swatter we have all had or are about to have ;)

I had a few flies hanging around my house that just would not go away and didn’t want to buy a fly swatter so I decided to design one with a little character added to it. I printed mine out of PLA but this would a perfect application for a flexible filament or a printer with duel extruders so the fly could be a different color. This is a pretty hefty swatter, I was actually killing them dead in their tracks while they were flying.

After the print is done just use an old metal coat hanger to make the handle. I cut the hook off just below the twisted wire and then straightened the wire out with pliers, looped the hand end of the handle around my caliper box and twisted the wire for the middle section and then cut the two end even and bent then so they lined up with the two holes on the swatter and pushed the ends in. you may need a little epoxy to hold the two pieces together (I did not but each printer is different).

This fly swatter is a little larger than the common household swatter, but that just helps your aim a bit better. If you think it will be a bit big then you can just scale it down in you slicing software but just remember that there are two holes where the wire handle is attached and those will shrink too, so they would have to be drilled out back to the right size.
