Summary

A derivation of the Estes Swift 220, this uses an 18mm engine with a fin-integrated launch lug. Easy to lose on larger engines. Print in bright colors for best chance of finding it. See printing details for assembly and flight. This version has somewhat better stability and fin size compared to my first version, though the first one did fly straight on a C6-5. Do NOT fly on powerful composite motors as fin flutter will break the fins off. Stick to black powder or equivalent.

Initial attempts left shells at the default 2 and pieces of the fin didn't even print. They tended to split in two.  Not good. </p><p>Also, the nose prints separate.  The nose should be glued or welded into the main rocket.  The engine blows free and the resulting pieces are light enough that they do not fall at a dangerous speed -- called tumble recovery.  </p><p>Use 100% infill on the rocket body.  40%-50% fill should be fine for the nose.  You can generally get away with less fill, but the extra weight does help.  The rocket benefits from rafts, the nose can be printed with the flat bottom on the tray.</p><p>Note that both the original and this version were originally designed by me, but Jay did the OpenSCAD coding and first print of it.  This derivative has better stability for all engines.  The original flew fine in tests, but there was some uncertainty if that extended to all standard sized 18mm engines.  This should work with just about anything.</p></div>
