Summary

Inspired by GetawayMoments' egg timer-based panning rigs (http://www.getawaymoments.com/2011/07/how-to-make-cheap-and-easy-ikea-time.html), these parts will turn a cheap 1-hour kitchen timer into a time-lapse panning rig for your GoPro camera. GetawayMoments' rigs were great, but I wanted something I could attach to the hose-clamp mounts I made for my motorcycle (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:62652).

Instructions

1) Start by picking up a cheap kitchen timer. These parts you can download as-is are specifically designed to mate with the cheapest kitchen timer I found at Walmart (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Kitchen-Timer-00900W/14913172), but you can probably modify them to work with any timer.

2) Print the parts in your preferred 3D printer. For GoPro mounts, I find it's best to orient the grain parallel to the tabs/slots for strength.

3) Remove the gear mechanism from the kitchen timer housing by unscrewing the one screw on the back (save the screw!) and pulling the dial off the front (it shouldn't be screwed/glued on).

4) Center the bottom printed part on the threaded screw hole on the back of the gear mechanism and line it up with the 3 alignment holes. Use the original screw from the housing to make it stay. Push the top printed part onto the dial connector on the front of the gear mechanism. The fit should be pretty snug, but I'm paranoid about losing my GoPro, so I put a dab of epoxy in there to make sure nothing comes loose.
