Some fun with simple gears...
This is my geared 3 bladed flip open star.
This started as a test to see what minimum spec's I could achieve with the Up! Mini.

Post-Printing

Start by placing three 3/8" 2-56 pan head screws into the gear so that the heads fit into the recesses.
Place the gear in the blade housing with the three grooves cut into it, the screws will protrude through it. With the gear facing up and threads down turn the gear fully clockwise and then place the blades in the closed position.
Put on the other blade housing and use three 1/4" 2-56 pan head screws and nuts to hold the blade housing together.
The blades fit snug to keep them from opening accidentally. The pieces may need a little sanding to get the release tension the way you want it.
Put on the cap with the square cutout and use a 1/4" 2-56 pan head screw to hold it on.
The hole is set to allow the screw to tap itself if you don't have a 2-56 tap. Be sure not to over-tighten the screw.
Put the cap with the three holes on over the protruding screws and use a 1/2" 2-56 pan head screw to hold it on. Again it will self tap if you don't have one.
