AA Battery Replacer for using lithium 14500 batteries

This battery replacer lets you use rechargeable lithium 14500 batteries in place of AA batteries, in devices that use multiple AA batteries.

Lithium 14500 rechargeable batteries are the same size as AA batteries. They operate at 3.7v and are charged to 4.2v. Thus, they are not interchangeable with AA batteries, which have a nominal voltage of 1.5v.

This battery replacer allows you to power devices that use multiple AA batteries with a 14500 lithium battery. You can replace 2 or 3 AA batteries with one 14500, filling the empty spaces with the battery replacer.

After printing, insert a solid 12ga wire through the holes running end to end. Bend a tight loop at each end to make the contacts. Make the bend tight and as close to the plastic as you can. If you need to tighten up the wire you can bend it inside the hollow body by pushing up through the bottom hole, or (my favorite) just squeeze it in a vise. The copper will stick out on both ends a little, and should make it the same length as a regular AA.

Please be aware of the voltage requirements of your device. An electronic circuit that requires 3.3v may well be fried by 4.2v. On the other hand, LEDs and electric motors can usually tolerate a modest increase in voltage.
