Summary

Here is a dissection of a 6x6x6 cube into eight pieces. It is meant to show visually that 3^3 + 4^3 + 5^3 = 6^3. The eight pieces make the 6x6x6 cube, and the pieces contain a 3x3x3 cube and can be used to make 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 cubes. It came from a Figure in a book by Harry Lindgren with a reference to R. F. Wheeler dated 1951. OpenSCAD code is included.

How to Solve the Puzzles

The pieces are labeled A through H and are color coded. Instructions for the solution of the 5x5x5 cube and the 6x6x6 cube are given in the images above. The puzzles are difficult without aid. The 5x5x5 puzzle uses only 5 pieces, DEFG and H, and is simpler if the other 3 pieces are put aside.
