Summary

I wanted something to hold my nook while I'm seated or in bed so that my arms don't get tired for watching movies.

I figured I could use dowels for the long bits. But I should've chosen thicker ones. The current design bows/sways a bit too much.

Instructions

Each joint is three pieces plus a nut and a bolt. The dowel pieces are held in by friction. The teeth on the circular part limit sliding. The three-pointed piece is to make it easy to tighten and loosen the joints.

I printed two joints, plus a few extra pieces to attach to the nook clamp. Also, the desk clamp will need a three-pointed piece and a long bolt plus a nut. I don't think I made the slot for the nut big enough. I had to "encourage" it into place by heating/pushing with a soldering iron.

I recommend printing the joint pieces at 45 degrees with support so that the "grain" of the print adds to the strength of the part, rather than giving the pieces an obvious place to break.

You'll need nuts and bolts to screw them together. When I relocate the nuts and bolts, I'll post exactly which size.

Print everything but the clamp with 100% infill. The clamp needs to be stronger, and will need to be redesigned. It works OK, but fails if you over tension it.

I dipped the ends of the actual holder bracket in some latex so the Nook won't slide out.

clamp1d has a channel vertically through the spine of the clamp to add some material/reinforce that area. We'll see if that helps. The first one cracked after repeated use.
