How I Designed This

I designed this model in Autodesk 123D Design. I started by lofting three circles together to get the curved cylinder shape and hollowed it. I then drew the part to be subtracted, it basically looked like a flat badminton birdie. Aligned the two parts with the birdie part in front of the cylinder and multiplied the birdie in a circular pattern. The birdies were then extruded to subtract from the cylinder. Fillets were used on the points.
