Pipe Rocket

This object has been drawn and printed by students aged 14-15 of Kirkby Stephen Grammar School.
The activity has been carried out within the Erasmus+ Project PRINT STEM www.printstemprojects.eu and co-funded by the Italian National Agency INDIRE.
Once printed out the Nose Cone and Rocket Base can be fitted into a length of waste water pipe, with the internal dimension of 36mm. I cut this to about 300mm in length. A standard solid fuel rocket motor can then be fitted into the base. As a design project for pupils they can then design a parachute which will deploy when it has finished firing. Fins can be designed too. It helps if the fins raise the rocket off the ground to allow exhaust gases to escape.
