A simple ball that is easy to print and has a retro mechanical look.

It's a ball, an ornament, a dog or cat toy or even a toothbrush holder. Make up your own games. Nobody gets bored with a makerball in the house :)

Instructions

Print six (6) makerbolt crown brackets from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:187737 and then twelve (12) makerbolts from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9095.

Make sure to overlap the crown brackets consistently to avoid misalignments. It is easier if you define a top and work from there. I put the top and bottom brackets on the inside, then two opposite sides outside of them and then the other two sides outside of the first two sides. All the holes should line up if you align them consistently and symmetrically.

If you want to hang it like an ornament, also print the hook. The hook was made for easy printing, so it prints upright and the hook portion is really an eye. Simply print it and then cut out a portion of one side with a pair of scissors or wire cutters.

Those with obsessive-compulsive disorder may wish to align the M's on the ends of the bolts and fix them periodically :)
