Jüterbog Slavic Pagan Temple

JÜTERBOG SLAVIC PAGAN TEMPLE

This is a model of a Slavic stone pagan temple dedicated to the god of down. It was situated in Jüterbog (modern Germany) and destroyed in the last third of the 16th century.

Slavic pagan places of worship were usually located outdoors, representing oblects of nature, ceremonial sacrificlal sites and sites with figures ot ancient gods. By the turn ot the 10th, 11th centuries, pagan temples becarne widespread In Western Slavic territory. A number of extant historical sources suggest that the pagan temples were built not only of wood but also of stone.
