Lou's Shrinky Dink Holder

I was sitting with my son this afternoon watching him color in his Shrinky Dinks. When he was done, and they were all shrunk, he was having a hard time with the included paper holders as they either didn't fit at all or would fall over. He turned to me and said he wanted to make a holder that works so they all stand up like they should. He told me he had a plan...

My son is 6 years old and I said sure son. Let's go make this holder. He told me the base should be circular and have a slot in it for the Shrinky Dink to sit. So we measured a few of the shrunk Shrinky Dinks and came up with a good size base. We then measured the average depth and with those basics I sat him down at the computer. He has never really worked a computer before but I walked him through using the mouse and adding the basic shapes. About 15 minutes later, walking him through the software (Microsoft 3D Builder), he had his model. I never touched the mouse or keyboard. I told him how to save it then he loaded it up into XYZWare and pressed print. 15 minutes later he was the proud owner of his very first model.

I couldn't pry him away from the printer while it printed and the look on his face when it was done and it worked was priceless. Now that's a fun afternoon. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next
