SNOOD for laser head of 43mm diameter. (as from OptLasers. Poland)

Makerspace Guernsey just purchased a 5W diode laser module for building into a CNC engraver/cutter. We chose the CLH-5000 from OptLasers, Poland, and purchased through eBay.

It's a fine piece of kit but of course it will benefit from some air cooling, air flow over the lens and air-assist for better cutting — so here it is.

We've printed it in clear PLA and coloured the front of the snood in fluorescent yellow highlighter pen so the when the (near UV) laser is firing the front cone lights up brightly.    ;)

• The cone forms the main body and brings the airflow down to a fairly fine jet.
• The vanes draw the airflow over the lens and support the front of the laser head.
• The back flange centres the cone body on the laser head.

It's designed to accept regular 4/6mm aquarium air hose.

Some light sanding may be required for part fitting.
