Wind car - remixed into an experiment
This remixes the original wind car http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:951618 to make it more suitable to be used as an experiment with kids. Specifically, the rods and cups have been changed to have a square cross-section so that they can easily be inserted and taken apart without gluing them together, which allows students to experiment with different types of cups and different lengths of rods. In the original version, this was difficult because if the cups and rods were not glued in placed, they tended to spin on themselves.
Two sizes of cups are provided here, however additional cups can be created by the students in any CAD software.
Everything can be printed without supports. To glue the parts together, I used Cyanoacrylate glue (otherwise known as krazy glue or super glue), and accelerator (optional).
For assembly instructions see http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:951618 . The only change is that you will not glue the rods and cups.
Note... the photographs uploaded so far are for the regular windcar with the circular cross section rods... I forgot to take pictures of the square cross-sectional pieces before sending off my cars to be used in activities. The new version can be seen in the 3d renderings though.
