Fidget Spinner Test Bed
A small test bed for a fidget spinner. Ideal to show a bit of physics with it.
Simply connect a LED and LDR and start experimenting.
Connecting it to an oscilloscope you can do a good range of experiments:
- Calculate RPM (a bit of maths needed depending on the number of arms the fidget spinner has.
- Observe friction and deceleration. Measure and see how after each turn, the width between pulses shrinks.
- Calculate angular velocity.
- Learn to use the horizontal axis of an oscilloscope to compute by hand frequency and measure periods.
- See the effects of lubrication has on the fidget spinner.
Connect it to an arduino and compute everything with it.
You can also hook up an inductive sensor to do the same measurements! It is your call.
Great for teaching kids a little bit of physics while they use their favourite new gadget.
