Summary

This is a living-hinge model with interlinked rings that dramatically spin around the center axis when the panel is folded.

Instructions

The model spiner.stl has four concentric rings, and spinner2.stl has 8 concentric rings. The hinges are denoted by depressions on one side or the other.

It's easy to lose track of which direction to fold each hing. As a guide, try to fold the middle hinge of each ring so it forms a chevron or "arrowhead" pointing in the direction that the rings spin as the sheet is folded.

The model requires a flexible material like PVC (used here), nylon, or paper. Most hobby printers don't support these materials so I'm working on a rigid 3D-printable model that could be used to cut and emboss ordinary cardstock to achieve the same result.
