http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6820 did all the hard work here. I've just added an extra parameter to the function that positions each individual character at the place you specify in an array. So instead of...

fnt_str(["H","e","l","l","o"],5,1,3);

You can now use...

fnt_str_p(["H","e","l","l","o"], [0,5,10,15,20], 5,1,3);

The second array specifies the positions of the characters. The above two function calls would produce the same results because the array of positions passed in is mono spaced. You can now manually adjust the values of the position array to space the characters as you choose. I've defined some variables that represent the widths of the various characters. You can add these variables together to get the absolute position of the characters as follows...

fnt_str_p(["H","e","l","l","o"],
[0,
HH,
HH+ee,
HH+ee+ll,
HH+ee+ll+ll],
5,1,3);

It's incredibly ugly but as the language doesn't support local variables or recursion I haven't managed to think of a neater way. example.scad was used to create the main image.

I had to adjust the syntax of OpenSCADFont.scad slightly to work on Windows. There are some missing files as : is an invalid character for filenames in Windows.

I'd welcome any comments on improvements.
