Summary

This is a sliding test lead or cable rack made from a tie rack, and some 3D printed hangers. I've always liked the functionality of test lead racks, but don't like how they look. This allows me to hide the test leads under a workbench, and keep them out of sight.

Print as many hangers as you need to fill the rack. I've included two sizes for slots of 4mm, and 6mm, which worked for my mix of test leads. I used 26 fingers on a 20" tie rack, but since I don't have access to the full length, I filled it up with some of the clips that came with the tie rack. I printed these out of PLA, with 2 shells, and a 50% honeycomb infill.

Carefully pry one of the plastic ends off of the rack, and remove the tie hangers. Slide the printed hangers in, and replace the end cap that you removed. The hangers fit pretty tight in the rack, and on a few of them it took a small amount of filing to get them to slide in easily. You may need to use a small amount of glue to get the end cap to stay in place again.

If you have Geomagic Design, Cubify, or Alibre, you can modify the included CAD file to create whatever slot size, or hanger length you would like.
