Mechanical Iris
Really liked this design that I had seen on instructables* and wanted to create one that we could print. It takes a little bit of work but worth the effort! Reworked the drawings to better suite 3D printing and created a top cover to hold all the components together.
Size: 4" Diameter
Each Component Thickness: 0.075"
- Print all components and then drill the holes (to your liking) to make sure they are a perfect circle.
- I am fortunate enough to have a lathe which I created my pins out of aluminum but of course you can use anything you would like to fit perfectly. I put a little bit of glue to hold the pins in place but be careful the glue does not run down the pins to seize the components.
- Make sure that all surfaces are smooth so the components travel easy.
- You may have to sand down the flaps to properly close the iris completely.
Enjoy!
