Summary

Problem: I went to Europe about a year an a half ago carrying a 6600 Belkin Backup Battery, and I got annoyed having to try and hold the phone and battery when I need to use the phone and charge it at the same time.Solution: Create a phone case and battery clip in one.I redesigned and TOPEAK Ridecase and added the clip. the battery slides in from either end and is held in place by two ridges.

How I Designed This

Step 1:

            <div><p>Find and/or draw your phone and battery to scale.<br>I used Fusion 360 because its much easier to create editable solids that can be modified later.<br>I found a good set of iPhone 6 specification and draw the phone myself.<br>The battery I draw from scratch and ransacked other people electronics modes to get the USB ports to make it look a little more real.</p></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 2:</strong></p>            <div><p>Create several duplicates of your original components, because these next step get destructive.<br>Shell outwards 2mm both the phone and the battery and subtract the original to create the casings (you may want the shell the original to be subtracted by about 0.10mm-0.20mm to give a bit of clearance in you casing.<br>and create a blank to subtract for the opening (this you will to trial and error, too tight and the case will break getting the phone in and our).<br>Chamfer the entry to make it easier to get the phone in and out.</p></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 3:</strong></p>            <div><p>Add the ports and merge the phone case and clip.<br>Trim up the clip and blend onto the phone case.<br>Add ridges to hold the battery in place.<br>Remove some of the case back to make it a little more flexible and to be able to push the phone out (otherwise it extremely difficult to get the phone out without breaking the case.</p></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 4:</strong></p>            <div><p>Print the case standing up with the top edge facing down.<br>This will give the battery clip more strength. and less chance of one of the wings snapping off.<br>Print solid off course and with 10% support, just to stop the overhang from drooping.<br>I printed in 0.10 res to give the curved edges more definition and look a bit neater.</p></div>                <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/6d/ee/27/db/22/iPhone6_case_print.PNG"></p>
