GAIA Hertzsprung–Russell Diagram

Based on the April 2018 astrometry data release from the Gaia space observatory, the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram plots the brightness of stars on the y-axis, and the temperature on the x-axis. Most stars, like our sun, fall on the main sequence along the diagonal. Bright but cold objects are often red giants. At the other extreme are white dwarfs, which are small, hot, and dim.
