Summary

Mod to decrease temperature on the UP! mini (or Plus) printer.

For every increase in number on the wheel I get 5C less on the print head. 0 = no change, 9 = about -45C

Needed:

printed STL for mod case
Cherry PAAA3000 decimal switch (Farnell SKU 1180017)
JST BXH-001T-P0.6 crimp terminal, 1 pc. (Farnell SKU 1516301)
1.8ohm resistors (0805 or 0603)
some cable

Instructions

Wire the resistors in series on the push wheel, one wire gets from thermistor to 0 pin and one goes from common to printer.
Depending on the number selected, the common lead picks up on the respective number.

I took out one terminal from the connector then put in the wire (soldered the end before) and slid over a heat shrink tube. Electrical tape would also work but it can come off due to heat and movement of the head.

The JST BXH-001T-P0.6 crimp terminal was used inside the connector crimped to the returning wire from the mod.

Remember to test the device with a multimeter before installing.

On the side of the casing are two holes (3mm dia, 2mm deep). I used 2 pcs. 3mm dia 2mm height magnets to fix the mod to the outside of the UP! enclosure.
