Introduction to 3D scanning

This project with introduce student to scanning a person using Kinect scanner and Skanect software. The purpose of this activity is for student to prepare, instruct the subject, scan, then export the scan to a printable STL format for 3D printing.

Lesson Plan and Activity

Preparation

Two students are required for this activity.

-One student need to sit on a swiveling chair.
-Student to be scanned needs to sit up straight and lift his/her chin slightly
-Sitting student need to rotate on the chair 360degree(any direction) slowly
-Student with Kinect scanner will scan up and down the subject while he/she rotate 360 degree 3 times

Equipment and Materials

-Laptop PC (minimal Intel Core i5 Processor and 4 gigabyte RAM)
-Windows 7 or better operating system
-Kinect scanner version 1.0
-Skanect software
