Smartrap Huxley Hot-end Fan Duct
V1 Notes:
This is an easy to fit and remove fan duct for the Smartrap printer fitted with a Huxley Hot-end.
This duct will re-direct the air from the fan to blow on the nozzle and build platform when printing, thus cooling the printed part quickly.
Please make sure hot end is installed with the heater cartridge at the back.
If it in the front, the heater block will be too far forward and the fan duct will not push on fully without hitting the hot end and potentially melting too.
When printing the side walls, the printing of the infill can make your printer shake quite a lot, so I suggest 1st setting your infill to Rectangular at 0 degrees in Slicer. This should make printing a lot quieter.
.
V2 Notes:
I found that with v1, the air was only blown from the front and thus did not fully cooling the printed parts.
Getting some inspiration from "natko", I based v2 on his design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:53871
With the 'Air Horns', the air flow is directed all round the printed part to give better cooling. This design also allows for the printed objects to be seen easer while printing.
I print with 0.3mm Layer Height and Perimeters of 2 and 40% infill.
.
V3 Notes:
I have lifted the "Air Horns" up from the glass by a further 1.5 mm to allow for more clearance between the horns and the printed part.
This may also help to clear the Glass Holders on the latest SmartRap models.
V4 Notes:
This is exactly the same as the V3 design except there is no ' SmartRap logo' on the front. So it can be used for other printers with a Huxley Hot End.
