Overview and Pre-Requisites

This project will be a great way to culminate the end of a World history or ancient civilizations class.

The model that is to be designed and printed can be from any time era or civilization.

Examples examples include:
-Ancient Greek/Roman
-Ancient Egyptians
-Triassic/Jurassic/Mesozoic
-Vikings
-First Nations/Native Americans
-Ancient Chinese Civilizations
-etc

Lesson Plan and Activity

Students will need to choose a time era and/or a civilization.
Students will portray 2 roles:
-1 as a member of the chosen Civilization (designer)
-1 as an Archaeologist

The designer will select a relic, artifact, or fossil from their time period and design a 3D model in their software of choice (TinkerCAD, F360, etc).

The model will need to be printed with PVA so that it is hidden. Or the designer will need to encapsulate the model. (Bonus points for designing a relevant and creative encapsulating model.)

The models will be labeled simply as the designer's name (no clues in the file name!)

Once printed, the archaeologist will have 2 jobs:
-Identify the model, time era, and civilization
-Critique the design itself

Materials Needed

MakerBot Replicator+ or Replicator 2X
-Dual extrusion printer (optional)

Identify the artifact
-Where is it from?
-What was it used for?
-Who used it?
-Why?
