Design Process

When faced with the task of holding the whiteboard up on the cabinet, I decided I must find a way to support the elevated board on both the bottom, to prevent it from falling downward, and the sides, to prevent it from falling forward. My design for bottom utilizes strong 0.5 inch PVC pipe in addition to the top piece, which is screwed into the cabinet, and the bottom piece, which stays in place on the table below to allow for maximum support. As for the sides I simply created a right angled piece that can screw into the side of the cabinet for addition support. I came across issues when screwing all of the pieces in so I added a small ridge at the top of each screw hole to allow for more secure placement. The resulting pieces worked great and are the final product of this set.

Whiteboard Framing Method

Task the students with creating a stable permanent framing set for the white board, making sure they know they will be able to utilize tools such as PVC pipes, Screws, and Drills.
