1-1/4inch PVC Bobbin Mod
FULL DISCLOSURE: I have tested the test file but not the full prints of either style.
At the expense of a bit of capacity taken up by the increased shaft size this mod shaves six hours+ at .12 resolution and is a good solution for short build volume printers. It also economizes on fancy filaments.
I would have liked to use a smaller PVC but this is the smallest size that the 30mmOD bearings would still fit inside and I wanted to keep the bearings the same as the others used for bulk ordering and compatibility.
The tolerances here are very tight at .12 so I have included a tester file so you may try the fit. A little persuasion with a hammer should do the trick though.
I have included 2 styles flat side in and flat side out. Flat side out has a closed central hole just like the original bobbin B file so that it can print without support. This should be opened back up after the print and can be done with an x-acto.
The flat side out is useful for painted embellishment.
The flat side in model can be printed with the transition ring file which should be slid down the PVC and glued to the bobbin end face to provide a bit more support.
Either version that you choose should be printed twice and pressed on to a section of 1-1/4 inch PVC pipe 221mm long... sorry for the mixed measurements there.
