Summary

This is a 3-pole DC motor.

The motor was tested at 30V, it draws 1.6A and runs at 6400rpm.

Instructions

If you decide to build the motor, please note that you won't be able to find the magnets and bearings I used. You will have to redesign the model to fit it to your magnets and ball bearings.

The core slices come from an iron plate that was cut in a water jet cutter. The slices are insulated with magnet wire varnish.

For the windings I used 22 awg magnet wire. That was thick. You could probably use 30 awg wire. Watch here www.youtube.com/watch?v=1673-0Y3fFQ, on how to connect the windings ends.

The commutator is comprised of 3 pieces of a copper tube on a teflon cylinder. The copper pieces are secured on the teflon with epoxy glue.

Brushes are used for the commutation.

The plexiglas base was cut and engraved in a laser cutter.
