Summary

A snowman and a Christmas tree suitable for use as Christmas tree ornaments. Additionally, snowmen ornaments with the dates 2012, 2013, and 2014 are provided.

Instructions

The pictured ornaments were sliced with a 0.3 mm layer height and printed in ABS. I used no extra shells. Also, I used the "Pause @ Zpos" feature of the Sailfish firmware, Thing 32084, to print in different colors,

On the snowmen, I actually pared my black filament down a little (drawing it through a wire stripper). That so as to get a little less filament extruded so as to give some texture to the hats. At the same time, I wanted a nice smooth, flat fill for the white parts of the snowmen. At any rate to get nice, flat, smooth surfaces takes some calibrating of your bot and/or measurement of your filament. For the tree I was less concerned as texture adds some realism.
The snowman.png and tree.gif files are the bitmap images I used with OmNomNom Creator (Thing 24639) to produce the STL files (as surface maps). I did edit the resulting OpenSCAD to add the holes for string and to remove the rectangular flat base (set baseHeight = 0). Folks interested in EPS, SVG, DXF, etc. can import these images into Inkscape and then use the bitmap trace function to convert to vector artwork. Note that the image files do not appear as "Downloads". Rather, they are amongst the images which appear near the upper left of the Thing page and can be clicked on for a larger version.
