How I Designed This

I created 4 cylinders of each sizes. Using text I wrote 1.0 on an cylinder. Next, I cut one of the cylinders in half using a "hole" tool. and labeled these pieces with 0.5. I continued to procedure to create fourths and eighths as well.

This project was intended fro students in Grade 5 Math. The standards are listed below.

NY-5.NF.1 Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators
(including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with
equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or
difference of fractions with like denominators.

NY-5.NBT.3 Read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths.
