How I Designed This

When starting this project I went to the first place I always go to for ideas… PINTEREST! At first I was looking for “actual” logos but–like all things Pinterest related–I eventually stumbled down a blackhole which brought me to a tattoo designer The Raw Flow. I loved the dots that created the realistic wolf on one half and the geometry that created the other half of the wolf. However, I did not realize just how much of a doozie this was going to be to create!

Creating the initial outline was simple enough, some lines here, some circles there, this was going to be easy! WRONG! Originally I had planned to utilize every single dot… until I realized that the more points I had, the slower the system worked. I had barely finished the eye area when I realized that the route I was going wasn’t going to be feasible. After trial and error, eventually I decided that utilizing the spline tool to outline major sections was going to be my best bet. I then went on to create the “dot effect” in very specific areas surrounding my outlines.

The next hurdle I came across was the geometry side. I wanted to create points and dips to create the illusion of a geometric wolf. This is definitely a feature that I still think I need to tinker with to create a piece I genuinely appreciate. However, for now, I think it gets the job done!
