Apollo Mission
Now you can play with the only manned vessels to have left Earth orbit. Reenact all your favorite docking maneuvers and Moon landings.
UPDATE: I have refreshed the design of this model to use my new pin library. I've also improved the design slightly and printed it out, so I know it works now.
These models are as close to 1:67 scale as I can manage, working from various drawings and dimensions. The Lunar Ascent Module is courtesy of NASA: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/3d_resources/models.html, which has a lot of free 3D models of spacecraft. I simplified it and made it manifold using Meshlab and Netfabb's cloud service.
About emmett
Am I an engineer or an artist? Yes, though probably in that order. My doctorate is in aerospace controls, which is the path of my career. 3D design and printing is one of the odd hobbies I enjoy. My designs have been featured in Libre Graphics Magazine, issue 1.4 http://libregraphicsmag.com and in an exhibition at The Luminary called Recently Possible: Objects of the Future
http://theluminaryarts.com/exhibitions-and-events/recently-possible-objects-of-the-future/index.html. In August 2013 Microsoft hired me into their new 3D printing group, so my job is now to make 3D printing easier for everyone. However, my design work here is still a moonlighting activity, and I intend to continue posting my creations for free.
Most of my ideas were derived at least partially from others' work, and I always love to see more designs derived from mine. I hope you enjoy my creations.
