Tactile Periodic Table Trends

FILES UPDATED AUGUST 2021
Tactile Periodic Table Trends models, where the height represents a property. The properties are

  • Atomic radius
  • First Ionisation energy
  • Melting point
  • Density
  • Electronegativity
  • Year of discovery

This is a remix where I did not included Braille in the model as Braille printed horizontally is not pleasant to touch. I made Braille labels and then stuck them on after printing.

These models were made for students who are blind or have low vision to help them learn about the trends in the Periodic Table, but could be used by anyone.

Lanthanides and actinides were not included in the models.

Elements for which no value is known are shown with a recessed outline.

Atomic radius - All z values are measured in Armstrong. 5mm = 1 Armstrong
Density - All z values are measured in g/cm^-3. 1mm = 1 g/cm^-3
Electronegativity - All z values are measured in units. 5mm = 1 unit
Melting Point - All z values are measured in Kelvin. 1mm = 100K
First Ionisation energy - All z values are measured in kJ/mol. 1mm = 100 kJ/mol
Year of discovery - There are several elements with a year of "0" as they have been known of since antiquity. All other elements were discovered after 1200, so this has been removed from their height for ease of understanding. 1mm = 100 years
