Flask Liner Customizable

Note: If you have issues using the customizer due to the poor thingiverse performance, then download the open-scad-file and use this after changing the variables to your needs.

The Original

The Flask Liner was originally designed by Dick Morris from Alaska USA and was given freely to help fellow metal casting enthusiasts.

I found it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3935956

You do find further instructions and a video there, so you can see how to use the liner.

I just remixed it, so that it is customizable. (Just scaling it didn´t work well for me, because the laths and their cross section respectively shrinks as well).

What is it good for / How to use it

The Flask LIner is inserted into a casting flask from the bottom. About 25 mm to the pouring side should be left free. Print it out of PLA. After filling with casting plaster wait for the plaster to harden. Then tare off the bottom ring. I use to cut centerlines into the plaster. These help to improve the airflow, when you place the flask onto the silicon mat.
The flask liner is then burned out with the wax or PLA model.
Finally the flask is placed on a vakuum pad for pouring.

How to customize

Open it in the customizer. You can then change the hight and the diameter matching your flask. The "density" adds or reduces the number of laths in the lattice.

Example

I made the STL for one of my flasks - 75 mm tall and 76 mm in diameter.
