Summary

A simple over-arm type clamp that I am using to hold down a portable gas canister- I'm sure it has lots of other uses. Clamps 60-70mm dia objects. Mine are made from 6mm MDF

Instructions

To build each clamp youâ€™ll need the following plastic/wood parts:

1x Gas_canister_mounting_bracket_LH
1x Gas_canister_mounting_bracket_RH
1x Gas_canister_mounting_bracket_overarm

You'll also need:
2x M4x12 hex head bolts (or equiv.)
2x M6x20 hex head bolts (+2x for mounting, length to suit)
2x M6 nuts (or use 1x wing nut + 1x normal) (+ 2x for mounting)
4x 6mm Washers

Build as follows:

Assemble each of the handed sides together (1x LH and 1x RH) using the short M4 bolts (if using MDF there is no need to cut threads into the parts).
Push the over-arm ends into the cavities in the assembled bracket base. It will only fit one way (it may fit the other way, but it wont work).
Fit 1x M6 bolt along with its washers and nut to act as the hinge
Fit the other bolt/washers/nut to the other end
Thatâ€™s it, Done. You should be able to rotate the over-arm piece about 15 degrees (from one end of the slot to the other)

Repeat the process to make as many as you need. To grip an object just close the over-arm and tighten the non-hinge nut/bolt. To mount, youâ€™ll need two 6mm holes coincident with the channels in the clamp body.

Iâ€™ve included the source files to allow you scale to suit other items. The item shown will clamp about 60mm -70 mm diameter.
