CNC Truss

This is a CNC Truss, or Linear Actuator.
The first picture can be used as an index.
Each Truss has a stepper driver. Each truss requires a separate stepper driver.
Here is a video of the first prototype:

I am currently working on a 12ft section to test deflection over distance.
Excepting stepper drivers and motors, drive belt hardware, and possibly miniature bearings for sleeve, parts are available at most hardware & automotive stores.
Intended for printing & CNC wood cutting. Metal version could be built for plasma cutting, using printed jigs to hold metal for welding.
Lengths are variable. Rails of copper tubing provide a smooth surface for carriage travel, and printed parts provide straightness and rigidity. The next intended design direction is to reduce printed components.
There is one motor section per truss, then blanks to length.
Deflection over long distance has not been tested.
2ft sections have proven strong and durable during construction.
