Glucose Transporter

This is a crystal structure of a homologue of glucose transporters GLUT1-4 obtained from the protein databank (PDB ID: 4GBZ)
Glucose transporters play an important role in glucose metabolism and primarily responsible for facilitating the movement of glucose in and out of a cell. It is a membrane protein found in most mammalian cells.
This particular crystal structure belongs to an e-coli homologue of GLUT1-4 called XylE which is complexed to D-glucose.
