Double Sided Victory Point Chips for Race For The Galaxy

Victory point chips for the following games:

These VP chips are double-sided and can be printed using a single extruder printer by changing the filament twice during the print. First I designed them with numbers in the center of each chip, but then decided maybe they would look better closer to the design of the original game component. In the end I liked the chips without text better because there are more imperfections in the printed numbers, but I have provided both models here.

Quantities

As a reference for the number of chips you will need, here are the original quantities from the games:

Dual Color Printing

In order to print these chips in multiple colors I used Cura with the Filament Change post processing script:

  • In the Cura main menu, select Extensions, then Post Processing, then Modify G-Code.
  • Click Add a script and select Filament Change
  • Assuming that you are printing with a layer height of 0.2 mm, enter 6,11 in the Layer field.
  • Close the dialog.
  • After slicing the model, be sure to use the Preview feature to confirm that the correct layers were entered in the post processing script. Tip: if you change the Color scheme in Cura to Line Type it is easier to see when the appropriate layer transitions occur.
