CRT-top shelf/platform (originally designed for the viewsonic p70f)

A handy little platform, designed for placing items on top of a curved CRT monitor (specifically designed to fit the viewsonic p70f, but should work with other similar monitors).

It can be used to place a network switch or a KVM switch on top of the monitor. Or it can be used for temproarilly stashing CDs or other removable media within easy reach. It's quite useful for turning the curved wasted space of the top of the monitor into a flat stable surface.

Don't put your coffee or other drink on that platform; not a good idea.

Designed in blender, so it might be awkward to modify, but I'm including the blend file anyway, just in case it proves useful to anyone.

Hints:

  • Can be mirrored on the X axis to make a shelf for each corner of the CRT top.
  • You can cable-tie something through the grill-holes of the top surface and/or the circular holes on the vertical bits if necessary.

I also added a hastily hacked version without a side-wall (crtshelf-nosidewall.stl), to allow printing one (or two with one mirrored) that will sit in the middle of the CRT. Although that was not part of the original design, it was requested and sounds useful.
