Building Jig for 4x4x4 RGB LED cube
I needed a tool to help making a 4x4x4 cube of RGB LEDs. So I built this thing. There are notches on the top of each LED holder for the R,G,and B leads, the anode points straight up.
You can build this with an unmodified Printrbot simple Maker model 1405.
Now, you have a former for the LEDs. You will find 3 small holes that go all the way through.
- Push the 3 RGB leads into the holes as far as they will go the anode goes to the outside.
- Fold the LED at a right angle.
- Pull the LED up till the edge of the LED is even with the top of the former.
- Push the LED up right again,
Now the LED and it leads should look like the ones in the picture.
Finally there is a 16-hole plate so once you have made 16 columns, you can arrange the columns for the final solder.
