Spray paint stencil
This is an example spray painting stencil technique which allows stencil support to be moved away from the stencil content while still providing support for islands. Spraying light coats from multiple directions allows complete coverage of the surface being decorated.
The parametric OpenSCAD design will need to be customised to add text and images. You may need to adjust parameters to ensure that the support holds all islands sufficiently.
Once printed take great care lifting this from the bed. If any parts break free from the support then they can be glued back on later.
I found that the stencil naturally became concave so rising in the centre. This proved useful when using it. After taping down around the edges and masking around with paper I used a weight in the centre of the stencil to hold it in contact with the surface to be sprayed. After each light coat of spray and before allowing to dry, removing the weight allowed the stencil to flex up away from the surface and so avoid sticking to the paint. Replacing the weight ensured exact positioning for each coat.
The stencil was sprayed both sides with matt primer before use to prevent the artwork paint being drawn along the shiny surface of the plastic stencil.
