Summary

This prototype is the first step to making a fully functional 3D-printed glasses. The frame is made with FDM and lenses with SLS. It is even possible to custom design your own package!

Instructions

The lenses are made to be a snug fit in the frame. To secure use a little bit of plastics glue.

Polishing
To finish the printed lenses to the right optical quality I advice to use waterproof sanding paper (grain 800). (Sanding should be done by using water!)
After sanding, you should polish the surface of the part with Unipol, which you can get from any DIY-shop. I discovered that the manner of polishing the lens is important for the blurriness of the photo's. I consider to be real precise on the quality of every step. Don't rush it will finally take longer. Bleaching
I also tried to bleach the whole lens using a fluorescent lamp. It is hard to keep your object just 40 degrees Celsius. It is important to keep it close to 40Â°C. If it gets to 45Â°C your lens will turn a bit yellow and less clear. See link below.
