Filament Spool Bushing
A simple idea to decrease the strain on the filament when being pulled from the spool. With over sized filament spool centres causing the spool to turn further from the centre of rotation, the extruder stepper is working harder and straining the filament.
The bushings are in two parts as the standard spindle has a raised lip preventing anything that fits nicely on the spindle from being slid on from either end. Just put the filament spool on the spindle then push the bushings into place, They should be a tight fit on the spool and slide easily over the spindle with very little play. You need two for each side of the spool.
I have made 2 sizes to suit the filament roll that came with the Ender 3 V2 as I found the spool opening varied. I’m new to having a printer so will be uploading more sizes as I get different spools
I have uploaded the FreeCAD files so anyone can adjust the busing diameter as spool centres vary from brand to brand. Measure the inner diameter of your spool (use vernier callipers if you have them) and add .5mm to the DIAMETER not the radius in FreeCAD. If you try and re scale it in a slicer it will change the spindle diameter and wont fit the machine
