Pinewood Derby Car Penguin Design

This years pinewood derby entry. Designed to be a penguin sliding down the track on his back. The idea and design is inspired from the penguins in a recent animated movie, but not really any specific character.

The wood block is cut in a typical pinewood style with a heavy backend block and lightweight front. The printed part was subtracted in the CAD software to create a groove in the base for it to fit into.

Printing was done with black, white and yellow filament. Yellow was PLA, and black and white was ABS, but for no particular reason except for that is what we had on hand.

The eyes are not printed but instead just two small washers spray painted white with a small piece of black paper stuck to the back.
