Solar filter cap for 11" SCT and 12x12 solar film.
This is the first iteration of a design for a large SCT solar-filter cap, printable on 250mm printers in 8 total pieces.
Affix the bottom half (wing) to your OTA's aperture end with some felt or a buffer so that it's snug, won't come off easily, and won't scuff your scope.
Place a 12x12 sheet of solar film onto the top, then seat the top half of the cap (rim) in place. Affix with zip-ties, in order to prevent accidental removal of the solar filter.
I've put a ring of magnetic adhesive on mine, so that I can use a mid-sized 3D print surface as a magnetic cap. It works great with and without the film. It's also a good excuse to put some magnetic material on your calibration light if you are doing astrophotography.
