NiMH 12V D Cell Battery Holder

This is for creating 12 volt rechargeable dry cell batteries from 1.2V NiMH D cells. Small copper strips (fairly thick copper is recommended) must be bent and placed in the grooves for external and interconnections.

Be sure you get real ~10 amp-hour D cells, not 2 amp-hour AA cells in a D cell package.

A stack of three trays is sufficient to start a small car. In my experience the car's regular charging system makes it a drop-in replacement (1985 Toyota Tercel, 4-runner), but newer cars may be perhaps charge differently - I don't know; user beware.

One D-cell tray plus some supercapacitors might also make a great car starter.
