Face Plate for Philco C4608 Auto Radio

This radio face plate is for a Philco C4608 Auto Radio (Mopar Model 802). Designed in Inkscape using a photo enhanced and thesehold adjusted with GIMP.

The radio was custom designed for Chrylser Auto in the 1940's by Philco. When the United States entered the Second World War in 1941 civilian auto production was halted and Philco was left with thousands of these radios in stock. Rather than scrap these models, in 1942 they put them into a cabnet speaker sold them as a sit-by radio. The 8 tube reciever is has execllent selectiblity and the fullwave audio amplifer provided a linear output of a then impressive, 5 watts.
