Summary

This slide holder is designed to display microscopic subjects mounted under a glass slide. The space is designed to fit a piece of 1/8" mat with a hole punched through it (13mm diameter) along with a standard glass slide slipped over it, providing enough friction and compression to keep the slide in place.

            <div><p>Note: it is best to print the slide holder standing upright to avoid using supports. A raft may help if you're finding it is printing wobbly. </p><p>This slide holder is designed to display microscopic subjects mounted under a glass slide. The space is designed to fit a piece of 1/8" mat with a hole punched through it (13mm diameter) along with a standard glass slide slipped over it, providing enough friction and compression to keep the slide in place.</p><p>Standard glass slide = 75 x 25 x 1 mm</p><p>The mat serves as the "chamber" for the subject, and the slide serves as the glass top. The 3D printed holder holds it all together. </p><p>To assemble the slide holder</p><ol><li><p>Use a piece of double-sided tape on top of a little piece of white paper (or black paper, if using light subjects), larger than the 13mm hole you will cut in the mat later. The double-sided tape goes ON TOP of the paper, and should be a good bit longer than the paper so that the tape holds the paper down, and also so there is enough tape for your mat to stick as well. Place this in the center of the front of the slide.</p></li><li><p>Cut a piece of 1/8" mat a bit smaller than your standard slide. </p></li><li><p>Cut/drill/punch a hole in the center of your slide-sized mat. </p></li><li><p>Slide the mat into the holder, and once centered press it down so the double-sided tape grips it in place. The hole in the mat should be over the double-sided tape on the piece of paper. This is your mounting chamber. </p></li><li><p>Mount your subject(s) by placing them on the double-sided tape in the exposed chamber</p></li><li>Fit the glass slide into the holder, on top of the mat. There should be a bit of resistance/friction which will keep the assembly secure</li></ol><p>Enjoy!</p></div>
