Summary

This is a fan made model in tribute to the classic arcade game R-Type.
I was taken by the game back in the day.
My Dad actually cut out a wooden profile from timber which I tricked out and painted as a kid.

I like to think of this as the 21st Century remix of my designs.

Post-Printing

All parts printed was about 20hrs.

            <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/ff/e7/e3/08/75/d7bbdb89-0609-41cf-a9a3-021e501459d1.JPG"></p>            <p class="detail-title"><strong>Design Notes</strong></p>            <div><p>I printed this right after I retired the heating element/nozzle for new.<br>It printed with no dramas.<br>Possibly run it 215 degrees as the wheels 'stringed' a little.</p><p>I never purposely designed it to 'lock together' I was on a learning curve.  It was more about defining 'flat print' components.</p><p>I plan to remix this, probably many times as I think it is a good template.<br>The engines fit on a cylindrical peg, tolerance of +0.5mm seems to work well.<br>It's not Lego.  Perhaps MkII..  I have a better grasp of the software now.</p><p>Ultimately I will paint each component, and seal.<br>Then glue it together for good.</p></div>

How I Designed This

I drew a whole pile of designs as a kid.

I traced out the profiles using photoshop.  Then I used them as a an monochrome inverted negative, dark colour empty, white is object in MS 3D Builder imported as a JPG.  From there you can alter basic dimensions, if you like, Save as STL.  I just took the STL saved straight to TinkerCAD.  </p><p>In TinkerCAD I added depth, or thickness to the profile.
