11th Doctor Screwdriver with Sound and Lights
This is a slight remix from Ellindsey's version of the 11th Doctor sonic screwdriver to allow inclusion of light and sound components.
List of adjustments made to the models:
- Split gold end piece into 2 sections and modified internal shape to allow insertion of battery pack and power switch
- Modified white handle to include holes for 2 momentary microswitches
- Changed insert of black midsection piece to fit the FX Soundboard which is a bit thicker than the Arduino mini
- Added groove in silver cage to allow for tension o-ring
- modified the green core and tips to allow fitting of 5mm LED and 130 mm nOOd.
I have included the blender file I used with all the dummy parts for boolean operations.
Print Settings:
All PLA+ parts were printed with nozzle temp at 230c and bed temp at 60c on a Crealty Ender3 V2 using a PEI sheet and default cura settings for generic PLA. I used tree support for all models.
The PETG core pieces were printed at 240c with bed temp at 70c with a raft base as PETG is a bit finicky with sticking to the PEI unless its cleaned well (and even still iffy on thin, tall pieces). I centered both core pieces inside each other and printed them standing upright for additional support.
I opted for the most efficient pose for all the pieces other than the white section and silver cage, both of which were printed sitting horizontally to allow for more structural integrity for the prongs (as they are more likely to snap along layer lines).
all parts were printed at 100% infill other than the green tip which was printed at 20% infill.
Material List:
- Adafruit Audio FX Sound Board + 2x2W Amp - WAV/OGG Trigger - 2MB

- Super Bright Green 5mm LED
- Inland 6x6mm Micro Momentary Tactile Push Button Switches Assortment Kit

I don't make too many of these (only when the kids beg!) so any suggestions or improvements are highly appreciated!
